IMAGINE IF EVERY CHILD IN IRELAND LEARNED TO GROW FOOD AT SCHOOL

IMAGINE IF EVERY CHILD IN IRELAND LEARNED TO GROW FOOD AT SCHOOL

OUR ASK

We’re calling on the Government to invest in a national rollout of GROW at School – GIY’s garden-based education programme that’s already active in 700 schools and reaching over 100,000 children.

"I think it would be brilliant if every school in Ireland had a veg growing area since I think it is very important to learn when and how to grow different vegetables."

Emily, 13

RIGHT NOW IN IRELAND

1 in 4 children is overweight or obese

Ultra-processed foods dominate school lunchboxes

Children need climate skills for the future

The importance of food growing education

By growing food in schools, children gain practical food skills, climate literacy, and a deeper understanding of where food comes from. It’s healthy. It’s sustainable. It’s common sense.

We believe it is time to put food education at the heart of the curriculum.

We need your help!

Help us show the government that food growing is a national priority by reaching out to your local representative. Let’s ensure this is part of Budget 2025.
