About GIY:
GIY is an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to creating a movement of people connected to real food - organic, fresh, local, in-season food grown in living soil. GROW HQ, the home of GIY, opened in 2016 and features a multi-award winning farm-to-fork cafe, organic farm shop, organic training gardens and regenerative farm (at the Curraghmore Estate). With a busy year ahead, we are now looking to expand our kitchen team with the addition of a Senior Chef.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Consistency: Ensure food presentation and preparation meet GROW HQ’s high standards.
- Menu Assistance: Assist in the development of seasonal menus, maintaining a deep knowledge of ingredients, dishes, and their preparation.
- Cleaning & Hygiene: Ensure work areas are clean and sanitised. Assist with basic cleaning tasks, including dishwashing and organising food prep areas.
- Stock Management: Assist with stock rotation, ordering, and storage organisation, ensuring minimal food waste and adherence to HACCP guidelines.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with food labelling, temperature controls, and other safety protocols.
- Efficiencies & Waste Reduction: Support the Sous Chef in implementing strategies to reduce food waste and improve kitchen efficiencies.
- Health & Safety: Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed rigorously in the kitchen.
Qualifications, Experience, & Competencies
We are looking for an experienced and qualified individual who shares GROW HQ’s culture, vision and values. Our ideal candidate would have the following qualifications and experience:
- 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role
- Experience in a fast-moving Food & Beverage business
- A passion for local, seasonal home-grown food, and preserving & foraging
- Excellent attention to detail
- Team player who values integrity and respect
- Excellent communication skills
