stopfoodwaste.ie proud sponsor of GROW COOK EAT

Stop Food Waste, an EPA funded programme, works with and supports communities and local authorities throughout the country on a range of initiatives to prevent food waste and promote home composting.

Stop Food Waste aims to help Irish householders make the most of their food. It provides information, tools and support materials on all aspects of preventing food waste, from good planning and shopping practices through to correct storage and reuse options.

While there are many ways to reduce food waste, the is no one solution that works for everyone. The Stop Food Waste Challenge is a community-based initiative that provides a stepwise method that allows householders decide how they can best reduce their food waste in their homes.

For food waste that can’t be prevented, composting is an effective and sustainable local solution to managing organic wastes at home. The Stop Food Waste Master Composter Programme provides training for local community organisations on all aspects of composting, including garden waste prevention options.
