The café at GROW HQ is open 7 days a week, from 9am to 9pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays serving a delicious Bistro Menu, and from 9am to 5pm ALL other days serving breakfast, lunch, brunch, snacks, desserts, teas and coffees. We also host private events and offer outside catering for parties, meetings, conferences and even small weddings.
Our café is a welcoming place of great beauty. Yes, we may be biased*- but we’d love you to come along and check it for yourself. From the soaring wooden beams above and the glass surrounds it really is the warm and bustling heart of GROW HQ. We’ve gone all out to create a sense of bringing the outside in.
*we are definitely biased
Check out the daily menus HERE We serve breakfast from 9am to 12pm, lunch until 5pm and our Bistro Menu from 5pm to late on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and all day Sunday.
Our café is all about breaking down the barriers between where food is grown, cooked and eaten. We’re passionate about home-grown food and the best way to show it off is to have people taste it for themselves. Lads it’s unbeetable. We grow most of our own produce onsite, with a veg patch, a kitchen garden, herb garden and orchard. With daily harvests and a weekly menu change we're never predictable. While the veg will always be king on our menu, we are most definitely not a vegetarian or vegan café, although we happily cater to both. The meat we serve is always local, mostly organic, definitely free range and incredibly delicious. Featuring such deliciousness as bacon from Crowe Farm in Tipperary, sausages from Jane Russell, fresh fish from the Dunmore East Fish Shop, Inch House black pudding and free-range, happy poultry from Butlers Farm in Piltown, on the Kilkenny, Tipp, Waterford border.
We take pride in our great coffee, from local supplier of Java Republic, Fintan Stanley. Our coffee is so important to us we even named our coffee machine, Ferris. We serve a house blend and a special guest blend, which is organic. We also serve a huge selection of teas from the exotic (gunpowder anyone?) to the familiar. The cold beverages include elderflower cordial, Belvoir lemonade and even water if you like. We have a beer and wine licence and we offer a selection of red and white wines, Metalman Brewing beers and Legacy Irish Craft cider.
The café, like everything at GROW HQ, is part of GIY, and has a shared purpose; we try our best to encourage people to grow some of their own food. That’s where the magic happens for us, when your meal knocks your socks off in terms of taste and choice but also inspires you to buy some seeds or come to a class to learn to grow it yourself.
Our secret ingredient is our staff. Always helpful, friendly and great ambassadors for GIY, our experienced waitstaff are what keeps the cafe going. From chatting about the grass roof to making amazing coffees they are a talented bunch who always embody the GIY principles of hard work, honesty and great craic. If you want to let us know something really great one of our staff members did during your visit we would love your feedback.
