Part-Time Waitstaff

We are looking for passionate and experienced part time waitstaff (week days only) to join our busy team.
Based at GIY’s National Food Education Centre the GROW HQ café has recently won the Food & Wine Plot to Plate award and was voted Waterford’s best Free From restaurant in The Restaurant Association Awards 2019.


GROW HQ opened in October 2016 on a high-profile 3-acre site at Ardkeen in Waterford city. It is the home of the GIY movement and a place where people can immerse themselves in growing, cooking and eating homegrown food. It includes a 65 seat café, shop, grow school, cookery school and food garden. The café is a unique, bright and lively space that has quickly become a hub in our community.


Key Responsibilities

  • To assist the Cafe Manager to see through to completion opening and closing procedures
  • To assist the Cafe Manager in ensuring the cleanliness and organisation of the café are within the management guidelines
  • Help to ensure the smooth running of all customer requirements and that standards of service are maintained at all times
  • Act in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when the situation arises


  • Minimum of 2 years experience in café or restaurant setting
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Very strong, customer-facing experience and strong communications skills
  • Natural ability to build rapport with customers
  • Ideally, a knowledge of and interest in food and/or food-growing
