We are thrilled to be able to offer an opportunity in our beautiful eco-cafe in our National Food Education Centre in Waterford City.

The Role

The successful candidate will help the kitchen team to deliver an exceptional food experience for GROW HQ customers. They will ensure that GROW HQ delivers its commercial objectives whilst ensuring that the GIY mission is cultivated. Uniquely, the GROW HQ café will strive to be 100% self-sufficient in vegetables and fruit, so the Commis chef will require a passion for delivering a hyper-authentic, seasonal food offering that delights and educates.

GROW HQ  operates as an 9am-5pm business, open 7 days a week. We serve an a la carte evening menu on Friday and Saturday evenings until 8.30pm. We cater for private functions and events outside of operating hours such as parties, meetings and private dining which the successful candidate will be required to work from time to time.

GROW HQ, GIY’s national food education centre which opened in September 2017 on a high-profile 3-acre site at Ardkeen in Waterford city. It is the home of the GIY movement and a place where people there are no barrieres between where food is grown, cooked and eaten. It includes a 65 seat, award winning café, shop, grow school, cookery school and food garden. GROW HQ will impact on the lives of 500,000 people in its first 5 years and create up to 20 jobs.
